What is Pultrusion Batten?
Pultrusion batten is a structural component that is produced through the pultrusion process, where continuous fibers such as glass or carbon are impregnated with a resin (most commonly polyester, epoxy, or vinyl ester) and pulled continuously through the heated die to form a rigid and uniform shape. Pultrusion battens are commonly used in construction and industrial applications because of their high strength and low weight ratio, good life cycle, and corrosion resistance. The ones are intended for use as beams, supports, or reinforcements both indoors and outdoors. Uniformity of quality and dimensional accuracy across the length of the pultrusion batten makes the batten ideal for applications where long-lasting performance is desired without warping or degradation. Pultrusion battens are very lightweight but very strong so they’re easier to handle and easier to install than wood or steel.

Features
- High Strength-to-Weight Ratio:
Despite being lightweight and very strong, pultrusion battens are easy to transport and handle and offer excellent structural support in applications.
- Consistent Quality:
The pultrusion manufacturing process provides uniformity in dimension and material property along the length of the batten to give it reliability in large-scale installations.
- Corrosion Resistance:
They are highly resistant to corrosion; an advantage over traditional materials such as steel or wood, and are good for such applications as harsh or exposed environments, such as coastal or plant chemical areas.
- UV Stability:
They are designed to resist degradation from ultraviolet (UV) rays and for long-term durability when exposed to sunlight, or other environmental factors.
- Non-Conductive:
Pultrusion battens, especially those made from non-metallic materials such as fiberglass, can act as electrical insulation and are perfectly suited to use in an electrical or telecommunications application.
- Customizable Shapes:
Battens can be made to virtually any custom shape with the pultrusion process of creating battens.
- Impact Resistance:
They consist of strong composite materials which enables them to be impact and mechanically stressed, which makes them suitable for environments that receive high traffic or are industrial.
- Low Maintenance:
They age well, combating weathering, rot, and wear, reducing long-term maintenance costs associated with other materials.
Application
- Structural Reinforcement in Construction:
Such beams are support beams and reinforcement of building frames, strength and durability, and reduced overall weight of the structure. However, their corrosion resistance makes them great candidates for residential as well as commercial buildings, particularly where such buildings are situated in moist environments.
- Telecommunications Towers:
Pultrusion battens are used in telecommunications as lightweight, strong structural members to stabilize towers without increasing weight. Also, their nonconductive property prevents the anger of electric hazards in communication systems.
- Electrical Insulation Supports:
As insulating supports in electrical infrastructure such as power lines and substations, they are used. They possess high dielectric strength and are resistant to environmental factors for applications in high-voltage fields.
- Marine Infrastructure:
They are also used in marine applications where saltwater and UV exposure would otherwise corrode them, including dock supports, boat frames, and offshore platforms, assuring them of long service life in harsh environments.
- Utility Poles:
They are used as lightweight, durable utility poles for above and underground use. They are not sensitive to weathering, corrosion, or UV degradation, and offer long-term service with minimal maintenance.
- Agricultural Equipment:
The pultrusion battens are used in agricultural machinery, like irrigation systems, greenhouses, and equipment frames. Being strong and corrosion resistant they are ideal for use in these applications which usually require moisture and chemical exposure.
