FRP Core Rod Production Processes

The world’s first UHV GIL pipeline gallery completed the first comprehensive “physical examination” since the project was put into operation, which effectively guaranteed the safety of energy supply in East China during the peak electricity consumption period this summer, and better promoted the integrated development of the Yangtze River Delta. The Sutong GIL integrated pipeline corridor project, known as the “first corridor of the Yangtze River in thousands of miles”, is an ultra-long distance submarine GIL power transmission project with the highest voltage level, the largest transmission capacity, and the highest technical level in the world. As the key control point of the 1000 kV Huainan-Nanjing-Shanghai UHV AC project, the project is operated in conjunction with the 1000 kV Huainan-Zhebei-Shanghai UHV AC project, forming a load center that runs through Anhui, Jiangsu, Zhejiang and Shanghai. The East China UHV receiving end ring network has increased the regional power receiving capacity by 35 million kilowatts. Since it was put into operation in September 2019, a total of 14.4 billion kilowatt-hours of electricity has been transmitted, reducing 14.83 million tons of carbon dioxide emissions in the Yangtze River Delta.

The Sutong GIL pipe gallery project is the largest UHV GIL equipment group in the world. Any slight abnormality will cause an impact accident. In order to ensure the stable operation of GIL equipment during the peak power consumption period in summer, State Grid Jiangsu Electric Power needs to conduct a “full physical examination” of GIL equipment every year, which has no precedent in the world. It is understood that the testing items of GIL equipment include six core indicators such as internal conductor temperature, various partial discharges and structural assembly conditions. It is necessary to collect core data such as micro-discharge, vibration, noise, surface and internal conductor temperature inside the equipment.
