Silicone rubber insulators are also considered composite insulators or polymer insulators. The glass fiber rod is one of the important parts of the glass fiber rod. Its name is made of glass fiber material, which is used as the supporting core of the silicone rubber insulator. The glass fiber rod is composed of dozens of glass fiber threads, which makes it able to withstand high tensile loads in the vertical direction. This is also the reason for choosing the fiberglass rod as the support for the composite insulator core, especially on the tensile insulators and suspension insulators on overhead wires.
The rods of polymer insulators have very good mechanical tensile properties, while the cantilever load performance is not as optimized as the tensile properties. Even in some projects, we use polymer insulator pillar types in substations. Compared with traditional ceramic pillar insulators, there are still some problems with their bending load and deflection.
